The New Year is in China the most elaborate & important of the traditional festivals. Who never saw pics of the dragon paraded through the streets?
Each new year is named after one of the 12 animals of the chinese zodiac. 2011 is the year of the Rabbit.
The Rabbit is a lucky sign. It symbolizes sensitivity, compassion & creativity.
2011 should be a peaceful year, welcomed after the Year of the Tiger.
The date of New Year changes every year as the calendar is lunar.
In 2011 it falls on February 3th. It is the start of 2 weeks of the Spring Festival celebrated in China & many other countries.
This long & colorful celebration is really fascinating & emblematic of the chinese culture.
On sund. 2/13/11 3 pm dancers from Hosoi Mura & The Pear Garden will perform a Chinese New Year show. With tales, colors, music & dances we will be celebrating the year of the rabbit.
Don't miss this scenic event :)
