It was recently the japanese Girl's Day.
Hinamatsuri, held on March 3rd, is the Doll & Peach Blossom festival.
It is an occasion to pray for young girls' growth & happiness.
To celebrate this day, beautiful displays of dolls dressed in court ancient costumes are set up in homes & shrines.
Formerly the dolls were meant to ward off evils spirits.
Dolls have been manufactured since the early days of Japan. They are an integral aspect of its culture.
On sat. 3/13/11 3 pm dancers from the Nakanoshima Okiya will be performing on Hina Matsuri.
Don't miss this chance to learn in an entertaining way on one of the most important annual festivals in Japan.
